“UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future”
The aim of the United World Colleges (UWC) is to use education as a force to unite people. UWC Adriatic, with a special emphasis on environmental and humanitarian concerns, brings highly motivated young students from all parts of the world so they can live and learn together. Our objective is to help students become active, involved and educated citizens whose attitudes towards understanding and community service will be a powerful catalyst for change. Through the students, as representatives of their countries, we hope to influence their wider communities to become more understanding, compassionate and peaceful. In short, we wish to create a better and more tolerant world.
United World Colleges is a unique organisation. It is the only global educational NGO that brings students together from all over the world, selected from within their own countries on merit and regardless of their ability to pay. These students come together at one of twelve United World Colleges (UWC) that aim to foster international understanding and peace.
UWC believes that to achieve peace and a sustainable future, the values it promotes are crucial.
- International and intercultural understanding
- Celebration of difference
- Personal responsibility and integrity
- Mutual responsibility and respect
- Compassion and community service
- Respect the environment
- Obtain a sense of idealism
- Seek personal challenges
- Lead through action and personal examples
My Motivation Letter
As an artist and a human being that wants to improve the world and make this planet a better one for every human being I’ve realized that the best 2 years of my life have been my experience at the United World College of the Adriatic.
I’ve been lucky enough to get a full scholarship to one of the 12 United World Colleges around the world and it completely changed me as a human being, made me a better person and a world citizen. When I’ve attended the college I already knew that I wanted to study Dramatic Arts, especially since when I got selected I’ve been a member of the Drama Studio of the National Theatre for 5 years and even-though everybody around me thought that I was interrupting a technical path I knew that this possibility of going to the UWCAD was the chance of a life-time. I was so happy I got selected to go to the college that I’ve wanted to stay there even during the holidays, I wanted to stay at the college cause I felt independent and happy to be there at all times.
Unfortunately I was not lucky enough to pursue Theatre Arts at the college as part of the I.B program and I felt so sad because of this reason especially since I knew from the very beginning that the United World College in Singapore was offering it. I was extremely grateful and thankful that we had an amazing Drama department in English and in Italian as well and that I was able to create my own shows and lead a Dance Activity, I was surrounded by true artists and young talented colleagues of mine that I was blown away every day at the college of the quantity and quality of the talents the International Commissions were selecting and still selecting with an amazing work behind it; with hard selection processes and truthful interests in perspective students.
Since I left the college at 18 and I was awarded a full scholarship at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, California I’ve said to myself that one day I will create my own Charity Program that will be: to create and to give the possibility to future scholarships awarded students to study as other subjects Theatre Arts as well.. I’ve always dreamt about this and every-time I would drive by when I used to go home or would come into contact with somebody from the UWC community I would think about this desire of mine that has been inside me for 11 years and finally only now trying to put it together with extreme hard work, infinite passion and real desire of helping future students and especially students that were not fortunate enough to discover the word Theatre in their countries or environments that they have been living until coming to the United World College. The best part of the United World College is that we give the possibility to students from 3rd world countries or students that have been living in refugee camps to study and to discover their undiscovered talents and now this will be possible through Theatre Arts, as well.
I’ve been working so hard in my life to achieve everything everyday with full dedication, millions of sacrifices, focused commitment, extreme hard-non-stop work and continuos perseverance at all times.
Now it is the time for me to start helping others and my desire is to give to another talent out there in the world to have the possibility to get educated in his own field, the one that he feels he owns it and can step out in the cold one day and go get them all.
I’ve closely analyzed the I.B. program of Theatre Arts, I like it very much and I approve completely of how it has been setup and conceived. I will personally engage myself in finding the most highly competitive person to lead this department at the United World College of the Adriatic.
With this said I’m kindly asking from the very bottom of my heart that this great cause can be supported and we can raise the money needed to give the opportunity to future students from all over the world, no matter what their color, their religion, their sexual orientation, their political views, beliefs or backgrounds are, it is given to them the opportunity to study, to get educated, to create for themselves a bright future ahead of them.
Your generosity and understanding it is extremely appreciated and It will be honored forever.
